Phyllida Shaw is a facilitator, writer and researcher with 30 years of freelance experience in the cultural and social sectors.

Working solo and in teams of associates with complementary skills, her reputation comes from her ability to listen, her skill in analysing and interpreting information and her direct but supportive personal style. She is a natural communicator and enjoys working with individuals and organisations of different kinds.

Clients have included the five Arts Councils of the British Isles, the British Council, local authorities, higher education institutions and a wide range of cultural and voluntary organisations, from Project Artworks and Dance Umbrella to National Theatre Wales and the National Trust. She has been an adviser, researcher and assessor for grant-making trusts, a lecturer at Sussex and City Universities and a research associate of the Cities Institute, at London Metropolitan University. She is a member of the National Union of Journalists.
